Top 10 Swarm Attractants!!!
Things to do if you have a swarm land in a tree near your house or on your house.
Reasons you need a swarm to be removed.
If you have a swarm in your yard on a tree most likely it will move on after a few days (on the side of your house most likely they are moving in soon), but what the swarm is telling you is that they are looking for a home in your general area and the wall of your house is very inviting. Bees will normally swarm out onto a temporary resting spot and send out scouts to find a more permanent home. Most homes have tons of space for a swarm of bees to move in all the bees need is a 3/8 inch whole to gain access to the space in your walls or attic. So it is best if you see a swarm CALL to have it removed. Swarm removal is cheap if not free, but hive removal is costly. Swarm removal is the easiest of all removals and the sooner you call the better. Swarm removal is priced to reflect its height and location.Locally I remove swarms for free, yes Free!
Reasons I might charge for a Swarm Removal.
Expense/Distance:If you are over 15 or 20 miles from me then I require gas money under 20 miles I accept gas donations meaning if you want to give me 5 bucks for gas I will take it but will not ask for it. Reasoning for this requirement I can relocate a swarm of Honey Bees from your Home or Business to my Bee Yard, but that does not mean the swarm will stay. So if you live 30 miles from me and I come get a swarm I have to take two hours out of my day at least and 3 to 3.5 gallons of gas and the swarm may leave the next day. So I would be out my time and gas money and received nothing in return.
Time: I love to get swarms and I love helping Bees and people, but my time is valuable to me and to others. So, if I have time I would love to come get a swarm. I hate to hear of one that I miss because I just didn’t have time to get there before the swarm left or moved into the wall of a house. I am always happy to hear of a swarm and more than glad to remove it even on holidays and weekends when I have the time, but just understand I have other obligations too. If you do call me on a holiday, weekend or anytime and have a swarm that needs to be removed "Right Now!" and if I come get it right then I will charge as if working a Hive Relocation. I also have a full-time job so most of my swarm removals during the week are done after 5pm.
Location:I don’t mean where you live, I mean where the swarm has landed or is hanging; if it’s 40 foot in a tree, or if it’s on the second story facing I most likely will not be able to retrieve the swarm without extreme measures. You will have to pay me for the risk of playing around on the ladders. I love Bees but I don’t like heights, and I really don’t like the two combined. Makes me nervous and nervous people get stung. Now, if you have a swarm of Bees hanging off the side of your house or eve you do want to have them removed. Once they move in it's no longer a swarm but will be a hive.
